7 Things to consider while choosing a Web Server

Many a times we get stuck while choosing the Best Web Server  for blog or a company. Web Hosting is not just a need of and IT person but also an art to get most out of it in a very economic and hassle-free way.
Whenever while hosting your website there are some points to be keep in mind before purchasing any hosting plan or before opting for any hosting vendor. Many users have complained about the services of their vendor right after purchasing a web server. And the worst part is that when you contact their support department you come to know that that fault was done at your end and you didn’t placed your inquiry correctly.
For a well-known IT person these circumstances can be easy to handle but for the new-bees it can be a serious trouble leading to loss of time and money. The problems that a website owner can face after purchasing a web server can be of UI of customer panel, non- familiar to the hosting panel, missing features/applications, etc.
To get rid of these things one should take care to ask for some specific things before going with any web host or purchasing web server. Take a look:
  1.  Hosting Control Panel: The hosting control panel that your vendor is using should be well-known to you also as that panel will be helping you to upload your website content, creating email account, databases, etc. After purchasing the hosting account you will be using the hosting control panel most of the time and if you are not familiar to that panel it will lead to a headache and a matter of failure of your web hosting purpose. Make sure you ask for the type of control panel that your hosting vendor is using and confirm if you can get a demo of it.
  2. Technical Support: At the time of sales there is one thing that will be mentioned everywhere “24/7/365 Technical Support.” Yes there is an all-time Technical Support available but what is the duration of solving the tech issues?? This is the point to be noted here. Get the customer reviews about your vendor (make sure the reviews are recent). You can also ask your support person, and can also take in written, about the Support Infrastructure.
  3. Hidden Costs: After purchasing the Hosting package you often need something more in extra. Like adding domain names, creating email accounts, database assistance, etc. Although these things are not that tough but still you may need it. What if you are charged for any of these? Take a clear picture of it before signing up hosting account.
  4. Advance Payments: Are you overwhelmed with your hosting vendor? Every one of us often gets and makes some silly mistakes like depositing some advance payments of few thousand bucks that we can’t afford to lose. If you are new to Web Hosting or its first time with that vendor, then first try their services and then make any such decision.
  5. Hosting Infrastructure: Here it means the server and the Datacenter layout of your hosting vendor. Generally, many hosting companies don’t have their own Datacenters. The servers are taken on rent, or they have their own Datacenters.   Further the Datacenters are Tier 3 or Tier 4 also matters in the terms of server up-time. If your vendor is using servers hosted on third party Datacenter then take a look at the Datacenter facility or can also see the customer reviews online.
  6. Place your queries properly: At the time of inquiry we often fail to submit our queries clearly. This may lead to improper order. Keep in mind that your website is not what it will be in the next few months. For example if you are changing your website from static to dynamic then take that hosting package that will support the requirements of a Dynamic / E-commerce website. The best way to select a good web server is to ask slightly more than what you need.
  7. Cost matters: The hosting companies always have some offers for their new customers. Sometimes you get very huge discounts at the starting time. This may become the reason to select that vendor. But take an assurance that the same offer is valid or not at the time of service renewal.
The above points are for the Website owners they need to confirm to get a good Hosting Vendor. Though there are some suggestions for selecting a good Hosting Package.
